Handicapped Railings for Union Congregational Church |
|
Nestled in the wooded hills of Upper Montclair, New Jersey, amidst one of the New York Metropolitan area’s most distinguished communities, is the Union Congregational Church.
The parish needed to update the structure to allow for handicapped accessibility. This, coupled with the deterioration of the original metalwork around the property, required that a specialized metallurgist be found.
AIRMET Metalworks was that solution. We removed and restored the original front stair railings paying careful attention to all the important details, including renewing the polish of the original brass finials. The unique woven mesh pattern of the handicap ramp railing was very challenging to recreate requiring precise bending of each individual iron rod to form the interwoven composition. One additional feature for this ramp is the simple wall mounted handrail secured with our own custom designed, period style brackets. The completed project satisfies this client’s search for practicality, style replication and grace while improving the quality and durability of the railings.
"Our parishioners have been so complimentary of your can-do attitude and everyone says that it is the railing that makes the ramp look like it’s always been there! We’re grateful!"
